Power of a Song

Welcome to morobinbarrystories.com! Please join me on twitter @morobinbarry. This site is for Bee Gee fans everywhere who would like to read and share stories of joy, fun, love and inspiration for Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. (Andy is not forgotten and is included at times). If you’d like to share a story, please email it to me at morobinbarrystories@gmail.com. Stories will be published often, some from my collected tales and some from the new ones as they come in. Others I will save for my book, which is in progress. At times, I will write reports about events relating to the Gibbs which I hope fans will enjoy.

Today I am posting a video from the Mythology Tour concert in Philadelphia. Some fans are unhappy with “all the fan singing in the background” but this is exactly why I am posting this. It goes to show the power of a great song when thousands of people are singing along with Barry. Notice how he is listening to the fans as they sing with him. It is endearing, charming and truly touching to know that a song that was written when Barry was really a child himself can have such an effect on fans decades later. The song is lovely in its simplicity and imagery. As I watched the fans around me and listened to them, i knew I couldn’t “drown out” the voices, and  really didn’t want to do so. The smiles were everywhere, and I could see the memories flooding back to the audience members as they sang. A great piece of music is just that……a GREAT piece of music……powerful and memorable…and all thanks to the genius of Barry Gibb.

  1. an amazing song by an amazing
Kindhearted person. Alongside Barry is one of my closest friend, more like a member of my family, Beth Cohen.
Beth has been a mentor to my 17 year old daughter and vocal coach since age 12 1/2. We had the pleasure of spending time with Barry when he was putting the Mythology Tour together after the concert at the Hard Rock Hotel in Florida.
We talked about how much both myself and my then 14 year old daughter loved his music,
And one of the first songs my daughter sang was Immortaliry, and talked about
The song for a while. I’ve also had the pleasure of having Barry and family as a guest at my home in Fort Lauderdale for a surprise Birthday party for Beth.
We were invited to the Last show at The Hollywood bowl this past June 4,
It was a magical night that both myself and daughter will never forget.
We have some awesome pictures if you are interested
