I’m taking a different angle as I write about the Diabetes Research Institute High Rollers Night in Miami Beach. I’ll be posting several shorter, more personal stories for the fans and will give my take on the night’s intriguing and fun moments.
As one might expect, there are perks to being able to write about the Gibbs. Most often, I enjoy standing on the sidelines watching their interactions with whoever is determined to “get the photos”, “give a hug”, “share a chat” and post to Instagram and Facebook.
It gets grueling and crazy, but during the DRI High Rollers Night, I smiled my way through the evening observing Ashley Gibb being cool.
It’s been five years now of seeing Ashley and his wife Therese at various events and concerts. Often he is watching out for his parents and being supportive. Early on this evening, I talked with him; and as usual, he was funny, self-deprecating and interesting. When Ashley speaks with someone, he gives his full attention.
As a husband and father, I’d bet that he has his share of normal family challenges and both good and bad times; but during his public outings, his extroverted personality is engaging and charismatic. He and Therese are a built in family public relations force of nature.
It doesn’t hurt that great looks and killer smile come along with the patient man who not only posed for photos for several hours but also had fun in the process. His energy is palpable.
He’s a good sport and a nice guy, and Therese is a perfect match for him. She knows who she is and presents herself with confidence, poise and intelligence; and yet she’s willing to cut loose and give the fans the thrill they long for as they enjoy a kinship with her.
Of course, anyone might tell me that Ashley and Therese have had many years of practice doing the “social event” “and “be with the fans” thing. I say that it takes a special temperament to be comfortable and relaxed with the demands they face from the public. Whether or not their patience is tested to the limit, on this night they were enjoying themselves and making scores of people happy, both during the cocktail hour and then later as people surrounded them at the gambling tables.
After decades of being mentioned as the son “who looks like his dad” and the boy who “is a Barry clone”, he also is clearly his own man. I’ve heard comments that Ashley is “so nice”, “always smiling”, “fun to talk with”, “such a doll” and “so sweet”. Yes, all this is true, but there seem to be layers to him far deeper than what we see. Wouldn’t it be fun to learn more about those layers? I’d like to spend some time with him and learn more about this man and hope that time comes where I am able to do so. Thanks, Ashley, for being the gentlemanly, gallant guy that you are……smooth and cool……..
My story is so sad. I wouldn’t want everyone to see. Call. Pity me. Because I have a lot a lot to write about she love to Barry. His brothers. All the band. But hasn’t reached a State that I want people to read my story. I’m very sick.
What a beautiful post on Ashley and Therese. You can see that the children of Barry and Linda were raised with so much love and respect. I love reading what you have to write about the entire Gibb family. Thank you for posting my story too. Take care and please keep sharing.
