Happy New Year to fans around the world……

I have a few thoughts of reflection as this year comes to an end.

There is a man, a very good and different man, who God gifted with special power, not the kind of power that doctors who heal possess, not the power that scientists who research possess. The likes of engineers or mathematicians are indeed rare and to be admired.

These individuals are gifted in a way that is sometimes  impossible to comprehend. However, the man I am thinking of possesses a different kind of power that stands the test of many decades of scrutiny. This power cheers when there is sadness and brings smiles when seemingly simple sounds are heard. It could be a few notes and a spirit is lifted, a heart lightened, joy given.

The power of music soothes, thrills, excites, enriches and engages all five senses. This power brought he and his brothers names of description such as “legend”, “icon”, “poet”, “genius”, truly daunting words and tough to live up to in a changing universe where new generations take over. This icon must balance the reputation with the new visions, the instant technology and the demands of society.

I think this power surely comes with burdens that weigh heavily, for who among us, having lost pieces of himself, is ever the same?

Yet, he thrives, shines and endures. Sir Barry and Robin, Maurice and Andy will live on in our hearts, and the music will go on forever. Many blessings to Barry and his family, to all the descendants who carry those wonderful Gibb genes….Yvonne and her children and grandchildren,  Dwina and her children and grandchildren and Andy’s descendants as well.

Worldwide fans know there is no need to fear the loss of Gibb music…..for they certainly pass on the beautiful sounds to their families and friends. How wonderful for the generations to come.

Happy New Year to all!
